The Fourth Agreement: “Always Do Your Best”

Loving greetings to you all. Perhaps your hearts join my own in feeling somewhat heavy-hearted, bewildered, and uneasy about the disturbing challenges our world family is facing, including those in our own beloved country. As we search our hearts, turning to the Wise One within, Spirit reminds us of the ever-present, inherent Goodness in the world, that no matter what we are facing, compassion and peace are possible. And, above all, that living in Principle is the skillful means for creating the foundation for healing in the world. Toward that end, July’s theme of the month is, “The Spiritual Importance of Agreements,” which focuses on the ageless universal principles as taught by Don Miguel Ruiz in his spiritual classic, The Four Agreements. I so look forward to the support, strength and encouragement we experience together each week as we heartfully and prayerfully support the truth of our Oneness with God’s grace and all of our brothers and sisters.

The July 27, 2025 topic is The Fourth Agreement: “Always Do Your Best.” Even with the highest and best of intentions we may fall somewhat short in our desire to be and express our best self in all that we are presented with in life. This week we will examine the more subtle aspects of what this Agreement means in terms of self-compassion, patience, and never giving up on ourselves as we seek to fulfill our highest aspirations.

The Third Agreement: “Don’t Make Assumptions”

Loving greetings to you all. Perhaps your hearts join my own in feeling somewhat heavy-hearted, bewildered, and uneasy about the disturbing challenges our world family is facing, including those in our own beloved country. As we search our hearts, turning to the Wise One within, Spirit reminds us of the ever-present, inherent Goodness in the world, that no matter what we are facing, compassion and peace are possible. The July 20, 2025 topic is The Third Agreement: “Don’t Make Assumptions.” “To assume,” Webster’s informs us, means that “a thing is accepted as true without proof.” By choosing to inwardly pause rather than assume, we give ourselves the inner space to tap into Spirit’s presence, to discern about the facts or situation we are facing, to offer ourselves an authentic, principle-based inner and outer response beyond clinging to our own personal assumptions.

The Second Agreement: “Don’t Take Anything Personally”

Loving greetings to you all. Perhaps your hearts join my own in feeling somewhat heavy-hearted, bewildered, and uneasy about the disturbing challenges our world family is facing, including those in our own beloved country. As we search our hearts, turning to the Wise One within, Spirit reminds us of the ever-present, inherent Goodness in the world, that no matter what we are facing, compassion and peace are possible. And, above all, that living in Principle is the skillful means for creating the foundation for healing in the world. The July 13, 2025 topic is The Second Agreement: “Don’t Take Anything Personally.” This Agreement is perhaps one of the most challenging to apply. Why? Because of our attachment to our carefully crafted self-image and how we wish it to be received in the world. The good news is that this egoic habit pattern is not etched in our Higher Self. As we become spiritual grown-ups we cultivate a sense of humor that allows us to let go of reactions that ruffle the ego’s feathers.
