Applying Spiritual Wisdom – January 29, 2017

At the Science of Mind Spiritual Center Los Angeles, you will hear relevant messages, by Rev. Pam MacGregor, that you can apply to everyday life.

Intention is everything. Why? Because when intention brings us to the discovery of our own inner wholeness, all is well. We cultivate confidence in ourselves, in our practice of spiritual mind treatment and the empowerment of coming together as a spiritual community to support one another in our spiritual practices.

Intention is an Old English/French/Latin word intendre, which means “to stretch.” Spiritually applied, intention is to grow, develop, and unfold the Higher Self. So as together we enter the portal of the New Year, our theme of the month is, Intention: The Nuts and Bolts of the Teaching.

The topic on January 29, 2017, was Applying Spiritual Wisdom. We know when we’re authentically applying spiritual wisdom when it shows up equally at the kitchen sink, on the golf course, or negotiating a challenge with a loved one as it does while sitting in the stillness of prayer or on the meditation cushion. As our founder said, “The philosophy of religious science is…a synthesis of the greatest concepts that have ever come to the mind of man.” Listen to this Talk, as we dive deeply into those concepts and how to bring them into action in our everyday life.

The topic on January 22, 2017, was “How to Use the Science of Mind.” “The laws of nature are universal. Our use of them is individual and personal. This is the secret of spiritual mind practice,” Holmes writes in How to Use the Science of Mind. If we intend to demonstrate the Science of Mind principles in our life, we must first set an intention to do so. This anchors us and keeps us on track in our practice. Drawing from this tremendously practical and inspiring guide, Sunday’s service examined our individual understanding, application, and manifestation of Universal Law in our life.

“This Thing Called Life” – January 15, 2017

The topic on January 15, 2017, was “This Thing Called Life.” In Holmes’ classic work, This Thing Called Life, now entitled The Art of Life, he leads us on an exploration of the meaning and practice of faith, of unconditional trust that our Creator Source is on our side, unconditionally cheering us on. The faith he teaches is not blind; rather, it provides factual evidence through what we refer to as a “demonstration” or “manifestation.” This faith shows us the light at the end of the tunnel when all we can see is darkness. It reveals to us that we are accompanied by Spirit all the way.

“This Thing Called You” – January 8, 2017

The topic on January 8, 2017, was “This Thing Called You.” A new year is demonstrated only if you infuse it with a “new you.” Metaphorically, we can compare it to a hangover carried over from a New Year’s Eve celebration: If we drag our negative, worn out mindsets like self-condemnation, rancid guilt, sour disappointments, vile victimhood into the new year, that is what we are setting up ourselves to perpetuate. Let us instead carry affirmative intentions which will set the tone for demonstrating fulfilled expectations in the new year.

Illuminating the Inside Light of Christmas – December 25, 2016

At the Science of Mind Spiritual Center Los Angeles, you will hear relevant messages, by Rev. Pam MacGregor, that you can apply to everyday life.

Joyous Christmas, Chanukah, and Kwanzaa blessings to you! How beautiful it is that this year these celebrations consecutively occur on the 24th, 25th and 26th. As you gather with your dear ones may your spirits be filled with the glorious Light of Love warming your togetherness.

Our theme this month is Igniting the Light Within. I hope you will listen to each week’s Talk, as we explore and celebrate the sacred light that “lights up every man, woman and child.”

The topic on December 25, 2016, was Illuminating the Inside Light of Christmas. The inside, or what I call the “inner light of Christmas,” is what infuses joy into the outer light of our Christmas shopping, opening the gifts under the tree, sharing the magic of the season with family and friends. To tap deeper into the inside light of Christmas, we need go no farther than these three elements of the Christmas story: The Inn; The Shepherds; and The Wise Men.

The topic on December 18, 2016, was Sharing Our Light. As individualized expressions of the Great Giver of Life, we shine our light most brilliantly when we allow Spirit to be a giver through us by sharing our love, compassion, kindness, generosity of heart, selfless service, and our financial resources for the benefit of others. Truth be told, we are the ones who benefit the most because of the tremendous joy that flows through us when we are willing to be a vehicle of Spirit’s love.

The Christ-Light within Us – December 11, 2016

At the Science of Mind Spiritual Center Los Angeles, you will hear relevant messages, by Rev. Pam MacGregor, that you can apply to everyday life.

The topic on December 11, 2016, was The Christ-Light within Us. Ernest Holmes summed up the whole teaching very succinctly: “Jesus understood his own nature.” Not only does this describe the source of Jesus’s enlightened consciousness, but also our own. Which of us doesn’t yearn to understand and live from our true nature? This is why spiritual mind treatment is such a potent practice, because it begins by affirming our I AM nature, the Christ Self as the root of our being.

The Light of Understanding – December 4, 2016

At the Science of Mind Spiritual Center Los Angeles, you will hear relevant messages, by Rev. Pam MacGregor, that you can apply to everyday life.

The topic on December 4, 2016, was The Light of Understanding. “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom, and with all thy getting get understanding,” the wise King Solomon urges us in Proverbs. Understanding illuminates our being and makes us receptive to Spirit’s intuitive guidance. It is a soul-skill implanted in each one of us. Our part is to discover, activate, and radiate the energy of this light. As the song goes, “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine!”

Appreciative for the Vibrancy of Health – November 27, 2016

At the Science of Mind Spiritual Center Los Angeles, you will hear relevant messages, by Rev. Pam MacGregor, that you can apply to everyday life.

How beautiful it is that an entire day out of the year is set aside for the deliberate purpose of giving thanks for the inflow of Spirit’s limitless blessings in our lives. Thanksgiving is composed of two words: thanks, and giving. I invite us to respond to this call of action every day by sharing our innate compassion, loving kindness and service in the world. And let us begin now, as each week we explore our theme, Thankful, Grateful, Blessed.

The topic on November 27, 2016, was Appreciative for the Vibrancy of Health. There is a wise Yiddish adage advising us that “If we thanked God for all the good in our lives there wouldn’t be time to weep over the bad.” Even in the midst of that which has the appearance of “bad,”-caused by a sense of being separate from the Whole-let us choose to stand in the power of prayer and reveal the innate Wholeness that can never be hurt, harmed or taken from us under any circumstances.
