Embracing and Sharing Your Gifts – December 24, 2017

At the Science of Mind Spiritual Center Los Angeles, you will hear relevant messages, by Rev. Pam MacGregor, that you can apply to everyday life.

It is with great joy that the Science of Mind Spiritual Center Los Angeles Board of Directors and Practitioners join me in wishing you all the blessings of the season. We very much look forward to sharing this sacred month with you as we explore our theme of the month, “Embracing the Spirit of Christmas.” Whether you celebrate Christmas, Chanukah or Kwanzaa, may you and your dear ones be filled with the true inner and outer Spirit of the holidays.

The topic on December 24, 2017, was Embracing and Sharing Your Gifts. The story of the little drummer boy has become a timeless Christmas Carol, and for good reason. Captured within its lyrics is the message that, just like that little drummer boy, each of us has been born to embrace and deliver our gifts on the planet. Spirit delights in every single one of us, and this line from the carol offers us a reminder of that truth, “Then he smiled at me…,” and so it is that Spirit is unconditionally smiling upon us each and every day that we walk the planet.

The topic on December 17, 2017, was Embracing the Spirit of the Christ. Embracing the spirit of the Christ is about taking ownership of our own inherent Christ Consciousness. As the master teacher himself reminds us, “Truly, truly, I say unto you, he who believes in me shall do the works which I do; and even greater than these things he shall do.” Let us begin by emanating his example of expressing the Christ-like qualities of compassion, unconditional love, forgiveness, kindness, surrender and humility.

A Christmas Letter

Dear Friends,

It has been a tradition of mine to share these timeless words of Ernest Holmes with you each year because they so inspiringly remind us of the true spirit of human givingness that is at the heart of the holiday season. My prayer is that they may inspire each one of us to carry this generosity into every day in the New Year.

Blessings always,

Rev. Pam

A CHRISTMAS LETTER FROM ERNEST HOLMES

Christmas is for remembrance. The love manifested through our gifts to each other typifies the offer of Life and the givingness of Spirit to Its creations. The hands of the eternal are outstretched through our hands, and the heart of the Infinite beats in the human breast. But the giver must give of himself, for, “the gift without the giver is bare.”

It is not, then, in lavish gifts that we find true giving, but in the sweet simplicity of remembrance, in the kindly thought, the tolerant mind and the gentle act. Love alone can give love, sympathy alone can sympathize and only goodness can really do or be good.

The one who gives for reward does not give at all; he seeks to bargain; to trade for spiritual gifts; hence, he senses a loss in his own giving and finds no completion through the act. But, he who gives “half his meat” to the hungry feels justified and is warmed by a real sense of comradeship. He has established an actual unity between himself and other offspring of Creation.

Great causes succeed when there is a giving of humanity to humanity. With the check must come the one who wrote it, his interest, his enthusiasm, his love. The check must be a symbol of his desire to impart of himself–then shall it multiply its benefits and do good. Charity is cold–but love is warm. When heart speaks to heart a divine conversation has taken place, a heavenly discourse.

Each of us has something to give. Let each see that he gives of his best. If we are bringing our gifts to the alter of love, nothing less than the best will be acceptable; nothing less than all is enough.

May the real spirit of Christmas–the giving of the self to life, enter and abide in you now and through all times.

Sincerely,

Ernest Holmes

Today, we will explore Seven Practices for Peace as outlined in Deepak Chopra’s book, Peace Is the Way.

Embracing the Spirit of You – December 3, 2017

The topic on December 3, 2017, was Embracing the Spirit of You. Amidst all the flurry of activities and busyness of the holiday season, it’s easy to disconnect from the calm center of our inner self and become “human doings” rather than human beings. Together, let us set a collective intention to center and embrace the Spirit that lives within each one of us. And for those among us who find the holidays emotionally challenging, this centered embracement is a powerful antidote to the holiday blues.
