Friendship: The Art of the Heart – October 25, 2015

At the Science of Mind Spiritual Center Los Angeles, you will hear relevant messages, by Rev. Pam MacGregor, that you can apply to everyday life. This month’s theme is Celebrating Life’s Friendship Factor.

Friendship Month is one of my absolute favorites to celebrate with our spiritual family and I want to begin right now by sharing with you these beautiful words by Anais Nin: “Each friend represents a world in us, a world not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.”

I’m sure you’ve experienced this “birth” that the gift of friendship offers us. When we form a bond of true friendship with a person, sharing from the heart births a deeper self-awareness, one that expresses uniquely in each of our authentic friendships. And when we multiply that by the number of like-minded spirits within our spiritual community to whom we can open our hearts, we have the potential to have many births and rebirths within our hearts and consciousness.

The topic on October 25, 2015, was Friendship: The Art of the Heart. Two strangers meet, and by the mutual choice of their hearts they become friends. Isn’t this the law of attraction’s most tender manifestation—that one soul would be drawn into the magnetic field of another with equal recognition of the sacredness of their connection? “If you look at love long enough,” wrote Ernest Holmes, “you shall become lovely, for this is the way of love.” Looking into the heart of a friend sparks the energy of love in us, and engenders a reciprocation of love from us. Words become unnecessary as we embody this precious expression of Spirit’s divine love.

I Trust Divine Mind

I trust Divine mind to protect me, to guide me and to motivate me in the right direction.

My faith and acceptance of the mighty power within me maintains and sustains me. The law of my life is successful living for myself and for all of humankind. My life is empowered by divine ideas that inspire me to fully express myself. Each idea comes to me clearly and with limitless possibilities for its complete fulfillment.

Wisdom reveals to me what I need to know and divine love lights my path. I am secure, serene and filled with joy.

My word is law and immediately activates right and perfect action. I rejoice and give thanks for this divinely guided and already completed demonstration, I let it be, and so it is!

Love and Desire Are Not Synonyms – October 18, 2015

The topic on October 18, 2015, was Love and Desire Are Not Synonyms. How often do you hear yourself saying, for example, “Oh, I love spinach smoothies!” It might be worth taking some time to consider how we apply the word “love” to something we simply desire or take pleasure in. Love and desire are not synonyms. Manifesting all of our desires may give us temporary satisfaction, but it does not lead to permanent contentment. There is never enough of “more,” whether its money, fame, or credentials, including “spiritual” ones. Love is an inborn quality of Spirit within us that deeply nourishes our inner being and enjoys life’s gifts free of desire’s control.

Why So-called “Enemies” Are Vital to Awakening Compassion and Forgiveness – October 11, 2015

The topic on October 11, 2015, was Why So-called “Enemies” Are Vital to Awakening Compassion and Forgiveness. “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you” can be one of the most annoying rubs in Jesus’ teachings. Now of course he wasn’t suggesting we accept abusive behavior. Metaphysically speaking, he was pointing out that it isn’t our outer enemies that need to be destroyed, but rather the temptation to let our defensive ego get all swept away, preventing us from remaining centered in our hearts and offering a prayer of compassion and forgiveness to those who offend us.

I Am God Action

Nothing is missing in God’s perfect plan for my total fulfillment. The creative process is a moment-to-moment experience, which requires knowing that the law of growth is the law of use. The activity of Mind empowers me with its rich ideas so that I may realize and accept my full potential.

Each thought comes to me with a clear intention and purpose. Fresh and new ideas stimulate me with inspiration and enthusiasm. I feel a renewed interest and excitement in everything I do. All that I choose chooses me.

God action is always moving through me as harmonious right action. I am fully prepared for every situation. God Mind secures me in confidence and right knowing. This all-knowing Mind in me is decisive and acts swiftly with wisdom and strength.

I am governed and lead by God action, which provides me with the creative energy to successfully accomplish whatever I set out to do. I give thanks for the joyous fulfillment of this completed demonstration, and so it is!

Are You Your Own BFF? – October 4, 2015

At the Science of Mind Spiritual Center Los Angeles, you will hear relevant messages, by Rev. Pam MacGregor, that you can apply to everyday life. This month’s theme is Celebrating Life’s Friendship Factor.

The topic on October 4, 2015, was Are You Your Own BFF? Ernest Holmes offers us this unarguable fact of life: “You are the only person you can’t divorce.” How clearly this wisdom spells out for us how a sense of healthy self-love—or what the Buddhists call maitri, friendship with the self—colors our every interaction with life. If we are not our own BFF—“best friend forever”—then how can we accept that we are unconditionally loved by Spirit, that we are worthy of its nature encrypted in our spirit-soul? When we can relate to ourselves with loving kindness, compassion, and patience, we naturally extend these qualities to others.

Faith Is the Absence of Worry – September 27, 2015

At the Science of Mind Spiritual Center Los Angeles, you will hear relevant messages, by Rev. Pam MacGregor, that you can apply to everyday life.

As I sat to write this introduction to our September theme of the month, “Waking Up to Spirit,” I found this quote by 12th century mystic Mechthild of Magdeburg: “The day of my spiritual awakening was the day I saw—and knew I saw—all things in God and God in all things.” I realized then how the Science of Mind principles are timeless, ageless, for, as we teach, all that there is, is God.

From there I was inspired to create each week’s theme with the intent that as we practice its contents, we each come to that day of authentic awakening to the Spirit that animates our being, whose Love and Law govern the universe, who loves us unconditionally, and whose grace lights our path.

The topic on September 27, 2015, was Faith Is the Absence of Worry. Early on in the Science of Mind textbook, Ernest Holmes tells us that it is our birthright, even our mandate, to co-create our life with Spirit. The first requirement is that we have faith, that we trust we live in a friendly universe governed by Love and Law. This is the heart of the teaching: that the more we activate cosmic law in our life, anxiety is replaced with expectancy, with openness and receptivity to the Good that longs to give itself to us, to live in, as, and through us. It is trust that makes us capable of allowing the fullness of Spirit to awaken within us.
